Démarche
Née en 1997, Léa Guerchounow vit et travaille en région parisienne. Son travail constitue un point de rencontre où monotype, dessin, collage, peinture et volume deviennent excroissance pour ne former qu’une seule et même production allant du carnet à l’installation. Ses formes s’articulent par la rencontre aléatoire de fragments qu’elle crée indépendamment les uns des autres. Mais c’est finalement dans une certaine hétérogénéité que ces compositions hybrides progressent. Ce récit énigmatique devient délire logique, une harmonieuse maîtrise du désordre qui réveille nos perceptions et comme une entaille dans le temps.Elle ne cherche pas à créer une nouvelle réalité, mais une médiation entre le visible et l’invisible, qui révèle le réel insaisissable. Cette médiation agit comme un filtre sur le réel.
Explanation
It’s in the world arround me that I take the elements, or more precisely the images which I work with: tickets, motifs, wallpaper, plants ... I select these disparate elements when their shape, color or texture interests me ; it is the only criterion that unites them. I like to manipulate my images by different processes (scaling, accumulation, folding ...) then transcribe them with various media and formats ranging from the sketchbook to the installation. My recent work is a meeting point where monotype, drawing, collage, painting and sculpture become excrescence to form a single production: immersive installation. Pieces are articulated by the random meeting of fragments that I create independently of each other. Finally, in a certain heterogeneity, this hybrid composition proliferates in space and rooted in all directions while it progresses; like the “radicant” of Nicolas
Bourriaud. This enigmatic narration becomes a logical delirium, a harmonious control of disorder that awakens our perceptions. The virus that spreads from floor to roof becomes architecture and, as a hack into time, transforms it to create an event. The theatrical space of the installation encompasses the visitor in a moment that makes the present space more sensitive. In this suspense, the visitor seems to inhabit the work as a non-house. The immersive installation doesn’t seek to create a new reality, but it constitutes a mediation between visible and invisible, which reveals the elusive real.
It is this mediation that I seek to create as effectively as possible, so that my installation (as well as my
different productions) act as filters on reality.
